An investigator sought and acquired the call records of a journalist without a warrant, Commissioner Andrew Colvin says.
No disciplinary action has been taken, and they claim the AFP officer “only” accessed “metadata” – meaning only the record of phone calls not the contents of same.
This is a joke. It doesn’t matter what they accessed. The fact that they did, and can again, is a problem.
To add insult it injury, Colvin blames the incident on “human error”. If that laughable claim is true, the Australian Federal Police can “accidentally” access a citizen’s phone records.
